 For combined operation of today’s trains and the synchrotrain vehicles the active track points need to have additional guidance tracks on each side (5) (Fig. 2 und Fig. 3). These guidance tracks do not influence today’s trains but they enable the synchrotrain vehicles to determine their direction independently from the state of the active point even during the switching process. Therefore the vehicles only have to lower the right or left scanning devices (2, 7) and raise the normal scanning device (1). Close to the end of the combined track switch the normal scanning device (1) has to be lowered and the right or left one has to be raised again.
